The Road From Which No Traveller Returns

The Road From Which No Traveller Returns is a game for two players. One player takes on the role of the Soul, a character who has died in some other game or story. The other player takes on the role of the Psychopomp, a guide through the lands of the dead, who can also provide a window into the world of the living.

Together, they descend into the underworld and - through a series of vignettes - explore the depths of the deceased character's psyche, reveal their secrets, and examine their impact on the world they left behind.

A game for when a character dies

This is a system- and setting-agnostic game intended to supplement a traditional tabletop roleplaying experience, as a sidebar to an ongoing story. Though it is primarily intended to highlight a single character, it includes options to expand play to a full table - letting you run the game as a one-shot interlude to an ongoing campaign while still involving all of your players.
